Chief scientist Alan Finkel has broken with the Prime Minister and federal ministers, agreeing Victoria now has the best contact tracing platform of all the states and saying Australia has a chance to stop transmission of the virus completely.
Dr Finkel also expressed strong confidence in all the states’ test, trace and isolation systems.
“What I’m seeing in the states and territories in Australia I am actually pleased, proud and rather confident in our ability to cope with managing the transmission down to an extremely low level, including zero,” he said…

A Victorian parliamentary inquiry chaired by Reason Party MP Fiona Patten was established this week to investigate how the state’s contact tracing system performed during the second wave. This followed a successful motion by shadow health minister Georgie Crozier.
