A SUNNY Friday afternoon at a venue overlooking the Yarra River was the setting for the annual Victorian Transport Association Women’s Lunch.
The venue was Fenix Events in the suburb of Richmond and the keynote speaker was none other than Fiona Patten, a Victorian MP in the state Legislative Council.
Ms Patten is a member of the so-called Reason Party, previously the Sex Party, and was also integrally involved in the Eros Association, an ‘adult industry’ entity.
She has since made a name for herself on a wide range of themes including her involvement with euthanasia legislation and efforts to decriminalise the use of cannabis.
VTA event organisers were particularly keen to hear from Ms Patten given the level of interest in small or minor political parties.
Ms Patten spoke on a board range of themes including the state of politics, advancing the role of women in all areas of society and the rights of sex workers.
She even threw in a quick anecdote about an old suggestion for sex workers to be covered by the Transport Workers Union (it never went anywhere).
Event organisers said they were particularly happy with the attendance this year.
