The leader of the Reason Party, Fiona Patten MP, has announced plans to introduce WiFi on all Victoria public transport as part of a set of policies aiming to regain Melbourne’s status as the worlds most liveable city.
“This is about enabling the public to stay connected during their commutes. Every bus, every train, every team will have free WiFi across Victoria.” Ms Patten said.
“People in my electorate are commuting for over two hours one way each day. Having free WiFi will help them to stay connected during this journey and goes some way to improving the quality of their commute.” Added Ms Patten.
Victoria is already trialling Australia’s first Free WiFi pilot around prominent areas in the CBD. Fiona Patten’s Reason Party policy will extend this over all Victorian public transport.
“This isn’t just about benefitting tourists. This is about enabling Victorian’s to stay online for free whether that is to contact a friend, read the news or check your emails.” Said Ms Patten.
