The Trump presidency has worried Stephanie. With the inauguration coming on the same day as tragedy struck Melbourne, a dark cloud has passed over the world.
Many have opposed Donald Trump and the outdated views he spouts. Particularly a concern on LGBTIQ+ and women’s rights. As Melbourne is in the middle of the Midsumma festival, a paragon for equality, Stephanie sees how different our two countries are.
Melbourne is moving forward to the steps of equality, while America is moving ten steps back.
On a lighter note, what particularly grabbed Stephanie’s attention was the outfit choices of Ivanka Trump and Hilary Clinton.
As a strong independent woman herself, Stephanie was pleased to see Hilary at the inauguration with her head held high.
But interestingly enough, both women wore the same outfit. A white pantsuit, an outfit that shows their strength and their style.
No matter what your thoughts on her father, Ivanka has shown herself as a powerful woman in her own right, that has elevated her fathers campaign. A fashion designer of her own label, a voice for childcare and wage equality, and a style icon.
Hilary herself has always played it safe style wise and her white pantsuit sent a clear message. One that echo’s the suffragette’s movement, and a beacon that shows Hilary might have lost, but she is not out of the game just yet.
Is Ivanka’s white pantsuit also a hint to the movement of women that fought hard for their rights, ones her father seems to be keen to step away from?
Either way, the world is watching to see what these two women do next, in the four years of a Trump presidency the world is facing.
Stephanie will also have her keen eye on the movements of these monumental figures.
